Job summary

Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI) seeks an experienced construction supervisor to oversee subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on the UPF project at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree and extensive nuclear construction experience. Flexibility for overtime, weekends, or night shifts may be required to meet project needs, with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance within a large, multi-stakeholder

Qualifications

Project Overview:

Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel's government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is one of the Department of Energy's largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration's largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and/or night shift pending project needs.


Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; the successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.


Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders' involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely #LI-CL1


Major Responsibilities:

Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff within the area of responsibility.



  • Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders' involvement. Planning

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.


Safety/Quality:


  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements

  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.


Technical:


  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.

  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.


Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Requires bachelor's degree (or internationalequivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.

  • Candidates shall be self-starters, highly motivated, require little supervision, and be able to excel in a team environment.

  • Candidates shall have previous experience leading, mentoring and managing large Construction Teams.

  • The candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASME, as well as NQA-1 requirements.

  • Good working knowledge of Labor Relations, Labor Agreements and Craft Jurisdiction. Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.

  • Previous experience on the UPF Project with the construction indirects team.
