Job summary

Octus is seeking a Distressed Debt Analyst to join our New York City office. The analyst will cover in-and out-of-court restructurings and stressed/distressed situations across geographies while developing story ideas for existing coverage and shaping future coverage for our subscribers.

Analysts will collaborate with Distressed Debt Legal Analysts, Covenant Analysts and editorial staff to provide research and analysis to top hedge funds, investment banks and law firms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of investment banking, advisory, desk analyst or buyside experience, with relevant distress exposure.
• At least 1 year in restructuring/distressed space with client-facing or decision-making responsibilities.
• Excellent technical and analytical skills with strong written and oral communications.

Responsibilities

• Produce research reports and topical intelligence articles, including valuation and waterfall recovery models, for publication to subscribers.
• Maintain dialogue and cultivate relationships with subscribers and industry contacts to supplement coverage.
• Direct exposure to portfolio managers at top distressed hedge funds daily.
• Collaborate with Legal Analysts, Covenant Analysts, Distressed Reporters and editorial team to cover topical distressed situations.
• Maintain coverage universe of 10-15 stressed and distressed credit situations.
• Follow industry and restructuring trends to guide coverage.
