Job summary

Florida International University invites applications for a Distinguished Postdoctoral Associate in the CASE Distinguished Postdoctoral Scholars Program. Fellows work with a faculty mentor, engage in research aligned with FIU’s priorities, and may contribute to teaching, outreach, and collaborative projects.

The one-year term (Fall 2026) renewable for a second year based on accomplishments and mentor recommendation; salary commensurate with the position plus a discretionary research/travel fund

Qualifications

• Ph.D. from an accredited institution completed before the start of the appointment (Fall 2026).
• Demonstrated scholarly promise with a research plan that reflects potential for future impact.
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate across disciplines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scholarly research that advances FIU’s research priorities in the sciences or humanities.
• Interact with graduate students, participate in outreach activities, and submit competitive research proposals.
• Teach courses if desired and collaborate with faculty across the College and with external partners.
• Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) with the mentor and receive annual progress reviews.
