Job summary

GEICO in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to define and lead the next generation of data center networking powering our private cloud, Platform Engineering, AI/ML, and enterprise apps.

You will architect hyperscale network platforms, drive automation, and advance software-defined networking across on‑premises and hybrid environments, mentoring engineers and shaping GEICO's technology strategy.

Qualifications

Deep expertise in modern data center networking architectures and large-scale design.
Experience with software-defined networking and cloud-native networking models.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field; advanced degrees preferred.

Responsibilities

Define long-term architectural vision for GEICO's data center network infrastructure.
Drive roadmaps for network modernization, automation, and SDN initiatives.
Lead architecture reviews and mentor senior engineers across multiple teams.
Collaborate with OpenStack, Kubernetes, Storage, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver integrated cloud networking solutions.
