Join to apply for the Display Optical Engineer role at Tesla.

What To Expect
The Displays team is seeking a skilled Display Optical Engineer to develop and qualify LCD/OLED Displays for Tesla vehicles' infotainment systems. This role involves working on display system development at both component and system levels to optimize design, acting as a key liaison between Studio, Software, Global Supply Management, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Tesla factories, and display suppliers. The engineer will manage activities from initial concept through to production to ensure delivery of displays into Tesla vehicles.

What You'll Do

  1. Manage display suppliers as the primary technical contact, driving optimal optical design and implementation.
  2. Design and define optical systems for new display projects and validate their performance through verifications.
  3. Establish a display optical lab and develop optical metrology for measurement, testing, and evaluation.
  4. Identify visual quality issues, determine root causes, and recommend improvements.
  5. Lead cross-functional teams including Design Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Firmware, and other specialists.
  6. Perform measurements, failure analysis, and review results from vendors and internal teams to meet performance specs.
  7. Address open engineering issues and coordinate with suppliers to resolve them promptly.
  8. Ensure timely delivery of display components for engineering builds and initial ramp-up.
  9. Handle issues arising during initial ramp and from field returns related to displays.

What You'll Bring

  • Deep understanding of display measurement, color science, performance evaluation, display technologies, module construction, process development, and display electronics systems.
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with optical measurement equipment, data acquisition, and visualization of results including image quality and lifetime compensation.
  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related fields, with at least 5 years of experience in display development and product delivery or equivalent.

Expected Compensation

$150,560 - $273,480 annually plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. Details will be provided upon offer.
