Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) seeks an LPN – Dispensing Nurse in Norristown, PA, PRN, to join our Montgomery County Methadone Center. You will support MAT patients under medical supervision, perform medication dispensing, and collaborate with a treatment team for patient-centered care.

This flexible PRN position offers Saturday morning shifts and occasional weekday coverage, with a focus on safety, education, and harm reduction in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • PA LPN or RN license required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, including MAT.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance for correctional facilities.
  • Active and valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Active nursing license maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical providers.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects and communicate concerns to medical staff.
  • Document patient information, vital signs, and histories in the record.
  • Provide patient education on medication management and harm reduction.
  • Conduct urine drug screenings and other tests as ordered.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Ensure security of medications and dispensing area per protocols.
  • Enter medication orders into the electronic record.
  • Provide emergency medical treatment within nursing scope when needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to nursing standards.
  • Participate in meetings, supervision, and quality improvement activities.

As a member of our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program, you’ll work collaboratively with medical providers and other members of the treatment team to provide patient-centered nursing care, medication support, education, and monitoring.

What You’ll Do

As an LPN – Dispensing Nurse, you will:

  • Assess patients and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical providers.
  • Monitor patients for potential adverse reactions or side effects and communicate concerns to the appropriate medical provider.
  • Collect and document patient information, including vital signs, medical histories, and current medications.
  • Provide patient education and support related to medication management and harm reduction practices.
  • Conduct urine drug screenings and other testing as ordered by medical providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Maintain the security of medications and the dispensing area while following applicable medication management protocols.
  • Enter medication orders into the electronic record as prescribed by providers.
  • Provide emergency medical treatment within the scope of nursing practice when necessary.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical nursing standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, quality improvement activities, and program evaluation as required.

Qualifications
Required
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment
  • Ability to obtain security clearance for correctional facilities
  • Active and valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to maintain an active/current nursing license

Schedule
