Job summary

Freedom Waterworks is seeking a highly organized Dispatcher to join our Houston warehouse team. This full-time role coordinates driver assignments, route planning, and daily dispatch operations to ensure timely pickups, compliant routes, and cost-effective deliveries.

You will collaborate with the Warehouse Manager and Shipping Team, monitor DOT regulations, and use MyGeotab GPS to track driver progress and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of dispatch experience.
• Familiarity with Houston’s roads, highways and traffic.
• Experience working with LTL trucks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, and clients.
• Proficient in dispatch software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with route planning tools is preferred.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch drivers for timely pickups and deliveries, ensuring all routes are optimized for efficiency.

• Support team success by providing resources, guidance, and troubleshooting when needed.
• Stay informed on updates to operating procedures, regulations, and technological tools for dispatch optimization.
• Work with the Warehouse and Shipping Teams to ensure trucks are assigned loads that match capacity and are routed in the most effective way to maximize profits and minimize downtime.
• Monitor CDL drivers through MyGeotab GPS to ensure they remain on assigned routes, stay on schedule, and operate company vehicles safely.
• Monitor and address unsafe driving behaviors, including speeding, harsh braking, rapid acceleration, excessive idling, distracted driving, eating while driving, unauthorized stops, and route deviations.

Summary/Objective

Freedom Waterworks is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team in Houston, Texas. This full-time role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations. As a Dispatcher, you will work closely with our Warehouse Manager and Shipping Team to optimize route planning, maximize driver efficiency, and ensure that all daily dispatch operations run smoothly. Your work will ensure that our drivers are equipped with the necessary resources, following safety protocols, and delivering high-quality service while meeting DOT regulations. However, employees may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee in the job title.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and address unsafe driving behaviors, including speeding, harsh braking, rapid acceleration, excessive idling, distracted driving, eating while driving, unauthorized stops, and route deviations.
• Monitor driver activity for compliance with applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements, Hours of Service (HOS), and company safety policies.
• Maintain awareness of driver locations, deliveries, delays, traffic conditions, and estimated arrival times and communicate changes as needed.
• Promptly communicate and document safety concerns, repeated violations, accidents, breakdowns, or other significant incidents and elevate them to management when appropriate.
• Review MyGeotab driver safety trends and reports to identify concerns requiring coaching or corrective action.
• Coordinate routes and schedules with consideration for safe and compliant driving hours, with safety and regulatory compliance taking priority over delivery schedules.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Minimum of 3 years of dispatch experience, ideally in transportation or logistics.
• Familiarity with Houston’s roads, highways and traffic.
• Experience working with LTL trucks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, and clients.
• Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities, especially in optimizing route efficiency and adapting to changing demands.
• Proficient in dispatch software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with route planning tools is preferred.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential.

Compensation

Hourly rate of $21.00 - $25.00

Education

• High School Diploma OR
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
