Monitors a variety of general and critical alarms to make certain the appropriate personnel respond. Make critical decisions as to the priority of events or alarms to be handled. Education Degree/Diploma Obtained Program of Study Required/Preferred High School Diploma or GED General Studies Required Certifications and Licensures Credential Required/Preferred None N/A Experience # of Years Type of Experience Required/Preferred N/A N/A N/A Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Must possess knowledge of all systems to be monitored to ensure appropriate actions and response - Must have ability to communicate both orally and written - Working knowledge of the Hospital?s geography - Must be able to hear, process information, and enunciate a clear verbal response - Good organizational skills Job Specific Duties Prompt Response Ensures a prompt and precise response to all radio and telephone communications Verification Verifies the accuracy of information prior to transmitting communications Proper Communications Uses the appropriate radio communications procedures and codes Response and Recognition Is familiar with Safety/Security personnel and operations in order to better direct needed response Alarm Monitoring Monitors a variety of general and critical alarms and notifies the appropriate personnel for response Emergency Communication Can direct personnel in an emergency situation by determining the exact location of the emergency and coordinating all radio and telephone information Decision Making Can make critical decisions as to the priority of events or alarms to be handled Campus Awareness Demonstrates knowledge of the interior as well as the exterior of the hospital and surrounding properties Departmental Communication Communicates with other members of the department to stay abreast of current events and issues that may affect the health system Departmental Support Actively supports department management; Actively supports administrative directives when issued Professionalism Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.
