Shift Available: Thursday to Monday, 3pm - 11:30pm
The Control Room Operations Dispatcher (Onsite) will:
- Monitor and operate hospital audio-visual security equipment, including surveillance cameras, intercoms, security computer systems linked to alarms, and remote access door systems.
- Provide access control for parents, patients, visitors, and employees to neighboring institutions.
- Manage access for ambulance transfers and med flights, including loading docks and other hospital areas.
- Monitor fire alarm systems across the hospital complex and BCH Satellite Properties; responsible for activating internal Code Red procedures and dispatching emergency services.
- Contact the Fire Department via direct emergency phones, informing them of alarm statuses and locations.
- Dispatch security and engineering personnel, notifying relevant hospital staff of fire alarm activities, and inputting information through fire alarm systems.
- Monitor and interpret critical systems such as building engineering, facility automation, life support generators, and medical gas systems.
- Dispatch engineering personnel for system activities and assist in testing and verifying alarms, including research repositories, generators, elevators, and fire systems.
- Assist in testing security equipment like panic alarms, egress alarms, door alarms, and intercoms.
- Request assistance from security, safety, medical, or engineering staff as needed.
- Coordinate with hospital administrators, safety departments, police, fire, public works, and ambulance services during emergencies.
- Generate work orders and security reports for each shift.
- Operate independently during shifts, making decisions in emergencies.
- Document maintenance requests and alarms in the Facilities work order system.
- Follow chemical spill response procedures, notifying safety personnel and coordinating with responders.
- Monitor multiple radio channels simultaneously, prioritizing communications.
- Attend required training sessions such as Fire Safety and Irradiator Response.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: 1 year of dispatch experience
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Strong analytical skills for critical, life-threatening situations
- Effective communication skills for exchanging factual information, scheduling, greeting visitors, and relaying messages
- Trustworthiness and reliability, including compliance with Radiation Safety within 6 months of employment
