Job summary

FCC Environmental Services is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate daily waste-collection operations, assign routes to drivers, and monitor progress using GPS and fleet tools. The role acts as the main communication link among drivers, operations management, maintenance, and customers to ensure on-time, safe service.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years in dispatch or logistics, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, fleet operations, or waste management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read maps, route plans, and interpret GPS tracking information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatch drivers and assign routes based on daily operational needs.
  • Monitor vehicle locations, route progress, and service completion.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding route changes, delays, service requests, accidents, breakdowns, and emergencies.
  • Coordinate with Operations Managers, Route Supervisors, and Maintenance personnel to minimize service disruptions.
  • Ensure timely completion of residential, commercial, and municipal collection routes.
  • Maintain accurate records of route activity, driver assignments, customer requests, and operational reports.
  • Utilize dispatching, GPS, routing, and fleet management software systems.
  • Assist with scheduling driver coverage for vacations, absences, and unexpected operational demands.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
