Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Dispatcher in Indianapolis, IN. This onsite role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with a contract-to-hire path. You will coordinate tow truck resources, ensure on-time pickups and deliveries, and provide excellent service to towing partners while controlling costs.

Compensation starts at $22.00/hr with eligibility for benefits. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of dispatching experience, strong organization, and solid communication skills.

Job Title: DispatcherJob Description

The Dispatcher plays a meaningful role in managing towing resources to keep vehicle pickups and deliveries running smoothly, directly supporting branch productivity and business growth. This position focuses on coordinating towing capacity, optimizing resource utilization, and providing outstanding customer service to towing partners while ensuring on‑time performance and cost‑effective transportation operations.

Responsibilities
  • Direct activities related to towing operations to achieve on‑time performance goals.
  • Manage tow truck resources and assign work efficiently to optimize tower productivity.
  • Plan future day resource requirements and coordinate with towing partners to secure necessary truck capacity.
  • Identify when demand exceeds tow truck capacity and engage part‑time networks to obtain additional resources.
  • Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Recruit new towing partners to expand and strengthen the towing network.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation to drivers for each pickup and delivery.
  • Monitor work in progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure timely completion of all jobs.
  • Identify and escalation issues or concerns related to transportation activities to leadership as appropriate.
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the transportation team.
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with all tow drivers.
  • Review and analyze transportation activity reports, including time performance metrics, to support continuous improvement.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support smooth operations.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of dispatching experience, preferably in a logistics or transportation environment.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in scheduling and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills for working with drivers, transportation teams, and towing partners.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to support and respond to towing partners professionally.
  • Basic understanding of logistics and transportation operations.
  • Ability to analyze performance reports and adjust plans to improve on‑time performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating towing resources or similar transportation services.
  • Familiarity with dispatching tools or systems used to assign and track work.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Comfort with problem-solving and escalating issues when needed to maintain service levels.
Work Environment

This is an onsite role, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position operates in a structured office environment focused on coordinating towing and transportation activities throughout the day. The role involves frequent communication with drivers and transportation team members, active monitoring of schedules and performance metrics, and adherence to established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
