Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Dispatcher role based in Baytown, TX. The Dispatcher will coordinate daily drayage and logistics operations, including assigning loads to drivers, scheduling pickups and deliveries, and monitoring shipment progress throughout the day. This role involves communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve issues, manage delays, and ensure accurate, timely information updates. The Dispatcher will maintain records in transportation management systems, verify documentation, and help optimize routes and equipment utilization. The position also supports continuous improvement by identifying service issues, recommending operational adjustments, and upholding safety and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in dispatching, transportation, or logistics operations, preferably in drayage or trucking.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers and clients.
- Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management software, and solid general computer skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple loads and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to analyze routing and scheduling challenges, make sound decisions under time pressure, and solve problems proactively.
- Knowledge of basic transportation regulations, safety practices, and port or terminal operations is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain are beneficial.
- Willingness to work on-site in Baytown, TX, with reliable attendance and flexibility for operational demands.
