Job summary

NFI is seeking an Overnight Dispatch Supervisor in the United States, Virginia, for the Ruther Glen area. The role focuses on planning and supervising dispatch operations on the night shift, coordinating with dedicated fleet drivers and owner-operators to ensure on-time service.

Responsibilities include load planning, driver scheduling, issue escalation, and KPI reporting. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in logistics, strong communication, and proficiency with common office tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of experience in logistics or transportation.

Overview

The Dispatch Supervisor will be responsible for planning and supervising dispatch operations for the overnight shift.

Tue- Sat- 8p-4am

Responsibilities

• Provides load planning, driver scheduling, and dispatch duties using both Dedicated Fleet drivers and Owner Operators.
• Maintains positive and encouraging working relations with all dispatchers and drivers
• Provides constant communications of service issues to appropriate personnel and departments, both internal (NFI) and external (customer).
• Provides daily and weekly performance/KPI data reports to both internal and external parties.
• Receive inbound phone calls from carriers / drivers / shippers that have a need for information related to their order. This may include providing information such as addresses or directions to a given location.
• Utilize TMS systems to address issues and document interaction with client / internal parties.
• Knowing when to bring in a 3 rd party carrier that can provide the necessary services to provide on time service to the customer.
• Assists and provides coverage throughout departments during vacations, holidays, and irregular work schedules.
• Deal directly with 3 rd party carriers for tracking and tracing (via on-line tracking tools or through telephone contact).
• Follow specific escalation process in the event of major service failure / issue.
• Respond promptly to driver or customer needs.
• Accurate and timely entry into operation system of loads status.
• Assists with implementing NFI’s Safety, Security, and Labor Policies.
• Ensures accurate and timely completion of daily and weekly tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 2-3 yrs experience in Logistics or Transportation
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Communication skills – verbal and written.

• Computer knowledge of Outlook, Gmail and MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

We are excited to share that the base salary for this position is $58,000.00. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
