Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Hutchinson, KS is seeking a Dispatcher with strong dispatch skills to support an account or location, driving productivity and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced setting.

You will lead the shift, resolve issues, backfill for dispatchers, train new hires, and monitor performance against goals while ensuring accurate daily forms and timely communication with management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years or more of experience with DOT and driver routing; 2+ years in logistics/transportation preferred.
• Knowledge of transportation environment (shipping, receiving, inventory management, dispatch) advanced preferred.
• Knowledge of warehouse/software applications and dispatch systems advanced preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead dispatchers to answer questions and guide the shift.
• Address customer issues and resolve problems within scope; escalate when needed.
• Backfill for dispatchers as required and ensure daily forms are completed.
• Provide training for new hires and ongoing staff training.

Job Description

Summary

Position is typically dedicated to a Dispatcher who exhibits exemplary dispatch skills within an account or location, with the intent to take on more responsibility. The incumbent ensures that productivity and operational goals are met in order to deliver customer satisfaction. Individual will be working in a dynamic environment that focuses on delivering continuous measurable improvement to the customer.

Essential Functions

• Serves as a Lead Dispatchers to help guide/answer any questions throughout the course of the shift
• Addresses any customer issues and/or provides resolution to problems that are within the scope of work, otherwise engages management for help
• Backfills for dispatchers when needed
• Responsible for ensuring any and all necessary forms used for the day-to-day operations are filled out completely and accurately
• Provides training for all new hires and/or any additional training needed for current staff
• Monitors and advises management if functional, productivity goals and objectives are not being met
