Job summary

MIKA Coral Gables, by Chef Michael White, is seeking a reliable Dishwasher / Steward to join our culinary team. You will help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen while supporting the culinary and service teams to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

The ideal candidate can work in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure safety and hygiene standards are met during busy service.

Qualifications

• Previous dishwasher or kitchen experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude, reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
• Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, kitchen floors, drains, and designated workspaces.
• Handle delicate glassware, china, and silverware with care to minimize breakage and damage.
• Assist with kitchen cleaning duties, including trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining sanitation stations.
• Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Support the culinary team with basic kitchen organization and cleaning tasks as needed.
• Communicate equipment issues, shortages, or damaged items to management.
• Work efficiently during high-volume service while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
