Job summary

Wesley Palms Retirement Community in San Diego, CA is hiring a Dishwasher for full-time shifts Thursday through Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The role involves washing and organizing tableware, pots and pans, and assisting with kitchen cleanliness under the direction of the Dining Services Director or Executive Chef. Requirements include a Food Handlers’ certification and at least some high school education; prior dishwasher or related food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load, run and unload the dish machine.
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
• Keep dish room clean and organized.
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Dishwasher

Full Time: Thursday - Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Tuesday and Wednesday Off)

Pay Range: $19.00 - $21.00

Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Dining Services or Executive Chef, a Dishwasher washes and cleans tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment. Keeps the dish-room and equipment clean and organized by performing the following duties.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Food Service Dishwasher
• Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.
• Load, run and unload the dish machine.
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
• Keep dish room clean and organized.
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Bag and haul dish room trash to dumpster at designated times. Safely lift bags, cases and stacks.
• Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
• Clean food preparation and production areas as required.
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen as directed by the immediate supervisor.
• Works in a standing position and hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.
• Follows highest standards of cleanliness. Follows all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs.
• Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Wears safety equipment as required for the job. Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor.
• Follow department safety standards, practice correct body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs.
• Attends all mandatory in-service meetings. Complies with all department and facilities policies and procedures.
• Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.

Essential:

• Food Handlers’ certification from local health department
