General Purpose
The dietary aide assignments are determined based on the activity of the shift. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.
Essential Duties
- Learn food service routines quickly.
- Set up meal trays.
- Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
- Assist with serving meals.
- Check and record water temperature and chlorine concentration of dishwashing machine at the start of shift.
- Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
- Operate the dishwasher.
- Prepare nourishments and snacks.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen.
- Handle trash and garbage.
- Store groceries safely and neatly.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.
Supervisory Requirements
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
- Effective communication skills with managers and staff.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions and percentages.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions.
- Food handler's certificate (must obtain and maintain).
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, talking, smelling, and tasting. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, stooping, and crouching. Good vision required.
Work Environment
