Job summary

Kirkwood is opening a new upscale dining restaurant in the heart of Houston and seeks a dedicated dishwasher to join the team. You will support kitchen staff by washing and organizing dishware, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation during peak hours.

The role requires the ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays, with a focus on maintaining a steady flow of clean dishes and supporting culinary operations. Training and safety protocols are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous dishwasher or restaurant experience preferred.
• Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
• Flexible schedule helpful.
• Valid Food Handler Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Sort, rinse, and wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment and by hand as needed.
• Ensure all items are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored in designated areas.
• Set up and break down the dishwashing area, ensuring proper organization and cleanliness.
• Rewash soiled dishes before delivering to the cook’s line or proper storage areas.
• Maintain a steady flow of clean dishes during busy service periods.
• Change dishwater in the dish machine as needed to maintain sanitation standards.
• Keep dishwashing station and surrounding areas clean and organized.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness in all kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and storage spaces.
• Remove trash and recycling promptly, dispose of waste properly, and sweep up around the exterior and dumpster areas.
• Sweep and mop floors, wipe up spills, and ensure kitchen floors remain dry and safe.
• Clean and roll/unroll mats, as well as fill and empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
• Assemble and disassemble dishwashing equipment as needed.
• Assist with general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

• Work efficiently to support kitchen staff by maintaining a steady supply of clean dishware.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
• Assist with basic kitchen prep tasks when needed.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and complete required training through the company’s training portal.
• Maintain dress code and uniform standards, demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
• Perform other tasks, including cross training in different areas, as assigned by management.
