Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED. Ability to lift 50lbs several times a day, place cooking pots, pans, utensils, and plates on both low and high shelves, work in hot and damp environments, and respond to situations to avoid endangering oneself or others. Must be hardworking, a self-starter, and able to communicate well with others. Ability to learn how to operate a commercial dishwasher and work in a fast-paced environment performing physical labor. Required to pass an extensive background check in accordance with Kaw Nation Gaming Commission regulations to obtain a gaming license.

Responsibilities and Duties

A dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishes in a food service environment to ensure a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans, and glasses. Duties include prioritizing loads of different types of crockery and kitchenware, hand-washing dishes, and loading the dishwasher for drying.

1. Unload cutlery and dishes brought to the kitchen, then load and organize trays for the washer.
2. Handwash large pots and pans that are too big for the commercial washer.
3. Wash work areas, refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls, and floors.
4. Assist with taking out garbage and trash to the dumpster.
5. Clean and sanitize dishes to meet health and safety standards, ensuring cooks and servers have the supplies needed for food preparation and service.
6. Sort dishes in the dish pit into categories, spray down each tray, and scrub by hand or place into the industrial dishwasher.
7. Oversee changing each load of dishes at appropriate times to efficiently wash multiple loads.
8. Maintain the ability to lift 50 lbs several times a day.
9. Place cases, pans, utensils, and plates on both low and high shelves.
10. Work in hot and damp environments and respond to emergency situations to prevent endangering oneself or others.
11. Be a hard worker, communicate effectively, and work in a somewhat stressful environment.
12. Be agile and flexible, responding to different priorities and quickly rearranging workflow to support kitchen staff and servers.
13. Maintain good stamina to perform repetitive tasks and stand all day without excessive fatigue.
14. Work exclusively in the back of the house, often collaborating with Bussers/Utility staff for sorting dishes.
15. Work long shifts to meet the demands of multiple meal services.
16. Begin the day by wiping down pots, pans, and containers necessary for initial food prep.
17. Focus and balance multiple tasks according to deadlines, managing a high volume of dishes efficiently.
