Job summary

Bennington College seeks a Utility and Dishroom Worker to join the Dining Services team. The role ensures cleanliness and sanitation of dishware and kitchen areas, supporting daily operations and delivering a memorable dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests.

This full-time, year-round position pays $20.02 per hour. Benefits include PTO, health and dental insurance, life insurance, short-term disability, retirement plan with employer match, and educational benefits.

Qualifications

• High School graduate and/or GED equivalent required.
• ServSafe or Food Sanitation training as required.
• Ability to follow safety and chemical handling procedures.
• Excellent personal cleanliness and hygiene.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Basic math and inventory skills.
• Strong reasoning and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper soap, water temperature, and sanitizer levels per procedures.
• Inspect dish machine and ensure proper operation before each meal.
• Ensure cleanliness of dish machine, sinks, and related equipment.
• Sweep, scrub, and mop assigned areas after each shift; clean kitchen equipment as needed.
• Manage trash and recycling; monitor receptacle usage for cleanliness.
• Maintain supplies and report shortages; track cleaning materials.
