The Disease Control Program provides investigation and related activities for reportable diseases. This is a Code of Maryland Regulation (COMAR) mandated program. We are seeking an individual with experience in working with communicable disease control and prevention and supervision of an interdisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the Disease Control Program/Immunization Program and interdisciplinary team.
• Oversee and manage the after-hours on-call Community Health Nurse team.
• Administer the program and program practices in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, such as COMAR, CDC, MOSH, and OSHA.
• Oversee and administer the Local Health Department Office of Vital Records.
• Manage and oversee state and local funding for the Disease Control/Immunization Program, including budget and contract monitoring.
• Serve as liaison between the local health department, Maryland Department of Health, and external stakeholders.
• Represent the Disease Control/Immunization Program and participate in state cohort and case reviews, Disease Control Council of Governments (COG), public health emergency preparedness and response activities, and other stakeholder activities and trainings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

1. Evening and Weekend Hours: This position requires the ability to work some evenings and weekends.
2. Working Offsite Locations: This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience overseeing a disease control and prevention program, including supervision of staff and management of contracts and grants.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Note: Based upon legislative requirements, some positions may be subject to different minimum qualifications.

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties

Preferred Criteria

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas:

• Experience working in a community or public health setting.
• Experience working with electronic health records, other electronic databases, fee collection administration, and data collection and analysis
• Familiarity and experience working with State and Federal infection control and prevention regulations and guidelines as they relate to communicable disease control and prevention and adult and childhood immunizations.
• Experience with oversight and supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act and professional standards of nursing practice.
