Full-Time County Contractual Position open to all qualified candidates. Location: 1950 Drew Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 Hours: 40 hours per week Benefits: Participation in the County’s group health plan including prescription, dental, and optical, paid holidays and sick leave. Job Description

Identifies and administers immunizations to children and adults seeking immunization services according to the Department of Health's and Vaccines for Children (VFC) guidelines and policies. May function as charge nurse. Activities may include special projects, off-site clinics, mass clinics, and POD exercises involving immunizations occurring during routine clinic hours, after hours and on occasional weekends. Provides immunization education and resources to clients and the community. Monitors and ensures safe storage and handling of all VFC and Department purchased vaccines according to VFC/Department guidelines and policies. Participates in the annual Private School Survey, conducts visits to private schools selected for audit, reviews records and compiles and submits compliance data by deadline to supervisor. Assists with mentoring new staff. Participates in immunization-focused webinars, trainings, updates and attends staff meetings.

Nature of Work:

Functions as an infectious disease prevention nurse by performing a health assessment on all individuals seeking immunization, sexual health and other Department of Health services by interview, observation and/or screening using the Nursing Process. Makes referrals to internal Department and external community partners and resources. Collaborates and assists other programs as needed. Performs pregnancy testing for all clients upon request and provides verification to provider and family planning resources as indicated. Assists the TB and employee health programs by drawing blood for QFT or titers as needed, and TST placement. May also participate in TB activities by assisting with contact studies, providing nursing case management, follow-up and education for tuberculosis cases, suspects and prophylaxis for patients in the health centers, clinic and home. May be asked to open records and document in a patient chart and MyInsight as designated by the Maryland State Department of Health, local protocols and current nursing practice. May perform monthly monitoring, obtain recommended lab samples and review results. May provide Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) per protocol.

Education
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience

Prior experience administering vaccines to adult and pediatric patients. Prior experience with STI assessment, education and safe sex practices is encouraged.

License Or Certification

Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Notes

The base location for the position is Parole Health Center, with travel to other health centers and locations in Anne Arundel County.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

Team player, flexible, comfortable working with immigrant populations, tech-savvy and bilingual (not a qualification for the position), comfortable working with both pediatrics and adults, including phlebotomy. Comfortable working with patients and providers during a Sexual Health Clinic.
