The State Bar of Texas is seeking a Trial Attorney to support the Chief Disciplinary Counsel and the Commission for Lawyer Discipline in attorney disciplinary matters before District Grievance Committees, District Courts, and the Board of Disciplinary Appeals.

The role involves frequent contact with State Bar departments and outside agencies, handling investigations, presenting complaints, and providing ethical guidance to members and staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
  • Minimum of three years of litigation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and Disciplinary Rules.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills required.
  • Experience using MS Word, Adobe, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the Commission for Lawyer Discipline in attorney discipline matters.
  • Represents State Bar of Texas, Commission for Lawyer Discipline, and Chief Disciplinary Counsel in civil actions in state and federal courts.
  • Performs pre-litigation investigations related to complaints against licensed Texas attorneys.
  • Presents complaints against licensed Texas Attorneys to grievance committee panels.
  • Provides ethical direction to State Bar members and staff.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.
