Job summary

The Virginia State Bar is seeking an Assistant Clerk of the Disciplinary System to support District Committee, Disciplinary Board, and Three Judge Circuit Court panels in the Richmond office.

This full-time role involves administrative and paralegal tasks, case record management, issuing legal notices, generating reports, and monitoring appeals before the Supreme Court of Virginia. Telework is possible after probation per policy.

Qualifications

• Legal background required.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and databases.
• Comfortable in a paperless office and in-person/phone interactions.
• Knowledge of Supreme Court of Virginia Rules and Regulations.
• Criminal background check completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the disciplinary system, including District Committee, Disciplinary Board, and Three Judge Circuit Court panels.
• Research and manage case records; issue and track legal notices, orders, and documents.
• Generate statistical reports and monitor appeals before the Supreme Court of Virginia.
• Prepare monthly dockets for volunteers and staff.
• Calculate cost assessments and process payments.
• Serve as clerk at hearings of District Committee and Disciplinary Board.
