Job summary

State Bar of Texas, Commission for Lawyer Discipline, seeks a Trial Attorney to represent the disciplinary body in attorney discipline matters before District Grievance Committees, District Courts, and the Board of Disciplinary Appeals. The role involves frequent interaction with State Bar departments and outside agencies, with minimal travel.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Texas, in good standing, and bring at least three years of litigation experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum of three years’ litigation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct.
• Effective legal research and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Represents the Commission for Lawyer Discipline in attorney discipline matters.
• Represents the State Bar of Texas, Commission for Lawyer Discipline, and/or Chief Disciplinary Counsel in civil actions in Texas state and federal courts.
• Performs pre-litigation investigations related to processing complaints against licensed Texas attorneys.
• Presents complaints against licensed Texas Attorneys to grievance committee panels.
• Provides ethical direction to State Bar members and staff.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.
