Job summary

City of New York seeks an experienced Agency Attorney to handle disciplinary matters, draft formal charges, and assist in investigations. The role requires evaluating legal sufficiency, preparing discovery, and prosecuting disciplinary proceedings under Civil Service Law and labor contracts.

The attorney will represent the DOT in informal settlements, OATH conferences, and related civil litigation, while performing research and drafting memoranda and briefs to support disciplinary actions.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Minimum one year of U.S. legal experience after bar admission, or six months as an Agency Attorney Interne.
• Incumbents must remain in good standing with NYSBA.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate disciplinary matters for legal sufficiency and draft formal charges.
• Prepare and review documents and discovery, including audio/video evidence.
• Prosecute disciplinary proceedings under Civil Service Law and contracts, including OATH trials.
• Represent DOT in settlements, informal conferences, and related civil litigation.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and briefs.
