Job summary

The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) in Tallahassee is seeking a Financial Specialist to support the Mitigation Fiscal Operations Unit. You will provide financial reporting, review subgrant agreements, process payments, and maintain budget data in state systems.

The role requires at least four years in financial management, proficiency with Excel and MS Office, and FCCM certification or willingness to obtain it within a year.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in financial management/contract management/operations, degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word/Outlook) and ability to navigate FDEM systems.
• FCCM certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial reporting support and quality control of mitigation program activities.
• Review subgrant agreements and reimbursement payments for accuracy.
• Process payments and reimburse subgrantees with Financial Specialists.
• Enter new award budget and maintain subgrant budgets in state systems.
• Provide program support and technical assistance to subrecipients, contractors, local governments, and others.
• Deliver training related to quality control of contracts and payments.
• Track local match for HMGP projects for quarterly reporting.
• Travel as needed to respond to and recovery from disasters.
