Job summary

CDM Smith in Hawaii is seeking a Disaster Engineering Specialist to conduct site inspections, document infrastructure damage, develop scopes of work and cost estimates in line with codes and standards. You will review designs, assess claims eligibility and prepare hazard mitigation analyses.

You will work with FEMA and applicants to prioritize projects, coordinate meetings, and support the Public Assistance process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years of in-field experience or 2 years of in-field of expertise with a professional registration.
• Domestic travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate infrastructure damage and documents findings, including photos and sketches; develops scopes of work and cost estimates.
• Reviews engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
• Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility and hazard mitigation proposals; prioritizes projects with applicants and communicates final determinations.
• Provides analyses and updates reports, participates in status update meetings with FEMA, and identifies the need for technical specialists.
• May coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to support the FEMA Public Assistance grant delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.
