Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Disaster Engineering Specialist to perform site inspections, develop scopes of work and cost estimates, and review engineering reports for disaster recovery programs.

The role requires bringing technical knowledge of construction materials, strong attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with FEMA and project stakeholders while traveling domestically as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years of in-field experience or 2 years of in-field of expertise with a professional registration.
• Domestic travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage, including photographs, site sketches and damage descriptions.
• Develops and reviews scopes of work and cost estimates, including code and standard requirements.
• Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
• Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility and evaluates hazard mitigation proposals and benefit-cost analyses.
• Works with applicants to prioritize projects, facilitates applicant meetings and communicates final determinations.
• Provides analyses, updates reports and participates in status update meetings with FEMA.
