Job summary

The Talbot Group is seeking a Disability Support Specialist to join our team in County Wicklow. You will provide person-centred support to residents, promoting independence and participation, and help residents achieve their goals in line with care plans.

Role includes guiding frontline staff, supporting induction, coordinating with families and the Multidisciplinary Team, and contributing to ongoing service improvement while maintaining confidential records and ensuring safety and quality

Qualifications

  • QQI Level 6 or above qualification in a relevant healthcare or social care field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Direct Support Worker or in a related role.
  • Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation principles and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A full driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred support that promotes independence, choice and participation.
  • Supporting residents to achieve their individual goals and aspirations in line with their care plans.
  • Acting as a professional role model and helping to promote the values and standards of The Talbot Group.
  • Providing guidance, support and supervision to frontline staff where appropriate.
  • Supporting the induction and development of new team members.
  • Working closely with the Multidisciplinary Team and families to coordinate appointments and support resident outcomes.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of the service.
  • Supporting residents with key-working, medication management and day-to-day care.
  • Promoting a welcoming, safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential and comprehensive records.
  • Supporting health, safety, risk management and emergency procedures in line with legislation and organisational policies.
