The successful applicants will join the growing Home Support Team who support individuals in the community. The successful candidates will provide supports in the areas of community access, personal care and supporting health plans. They will work with the individual and family to coordinate their own supports and will advocate on behalf of them with regard to their needs and priorities. They will also work collaboratively with the Home Support and Western Care Multidisciplinary Team to ensure best possible outcomes for the individuals.
Experience working in a person and family-centered manner Understanding and experience of supporting people in the community is desirable. Applicants would benefit from being informed around HIQA home support regulations. Strong understanding and appreciation of equality, inclusion, and quality of life for all individuals. Genuine commitment to supporting individuals in achieving positive opportunities and meaningful change in their lives. Ability to listen, understand, and respectfully advocate for individuals regarding their needs, preferences, rights, and aspirations. Full driver's license and use of a car is essential. Enthusiasm and dedication to upholding the ethos and values of the service. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to be innovative and creative in-service responses. Self-motivated with effective time-management skills. Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork, and the motivation to deliver high-quality facilitation alongside individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to demonstrate flexibility to meet service demands as required. Good knowledge of IT systems and applications is preferred.
Formal qualifications are not essential for Social Care Assistant positions. However, applicants must demonstrate key personal qualities essential for providing support, including compassion, reliability, patience, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of others. Previous experience is desirable.
Social Care Assistant Pay Scale (Scale Range €32,542 to €45,161 per annum - hourly rate from €15.99 to €22.19) - this is based on full time working hours i.e.39 hours per week
Full driver's license is essential. All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting and Reference checks. Applicants from countries outside the E.U. must provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in the Republic of Ireland. This documentation must be submitted with the application. Applicants who have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for more than six months since the age of 16 will be required to provide Overseas Police Clearance.
Health Applicants must be fully competent and capable of performing the duties of this role and be in a state of health that indicates a reasonable prospect of providing regular, reliable and efficient service.
