Job summary

NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance seeks a Disability Review Psychologist (NY HELPS) to join the Division of Disability Determinations. You will evaluate medical and psychological information to support Social Security disability decisions and advise the team.

This is a full-time, permanent appointment with a total compensation around $146,875 (includes a $20,000 geographic differential and $4,150 location pay).

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in psychology and current NYS licensure to practice.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate medical and psychological information in Social Security disability claims.
• Interpret psychiatric/psychological tests and reports per Social Security standards.
• Provide advice and consultation to staff on interpretation of medical information and additional documentation needs.
• Advise on need for consultative examinations and alternative approaches to obtaining evidence.
• Train staff in evaluating and interpreting medical reports in conjunction with Medical Relations Office.
