Job summary

The Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at UMass Boston invites eligible disability community members to join a paid research internship focused on the Progressive Employment model. Interns gain hands-on experience in qualitative research, data collection, and manuscript preparation under supervision.

The internship supports federally funded projects and offers pay of $25.00–$31.00 per hour for up to 400 hours over one year. Remote candidates may apply; accommodations are available as needed.

Qualifications

  • :Identify as a person with lived experience of any type of disability
  • :Willingness to develop new skills including accessibility checks and alt tags
  • :Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to review and synthesize information
  • :Willingness to learn about WIOA, the Rehabilitation Act and related federal legislation
  • :Interest in scholarly research and manuscript submission to peer-reviewed journals

Responsibilities

  • Assist with outreach and communication to research participants
  • Support planning and implementation of qualitative research activities
  • Conduct qualitative data collection (interviews, focus groups, community conversations)
  • Participate in coding, analysis, and interpretation of qualitative data
  • Conduct literature reviews and desk reviews to inform objectives and manuscript development
  • Summarize and synthesize findings from academic and gray literature
  • Contribute to drafting and revising sections of manuscripts and reports
  • Collaborate with research team and attend project meetings
  • Maintain human subjects certification (CITI) and follow ethical guidelines
