Job summary

Mindset Care, Inc. seeks an experienced Disability Hearing Attorney to advocate for claimants through hearings and appeals. The role combines legal advocacy, empathy, and disciplined case management to guide clients through the SSDI/SSI process.

The position is hybrid from New York City's Financial District, with in-office collaboration and some remote work as appropriate. Strong candidates have 4+ years of disability experience, bar admission, and excellent advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• Bar admission in at least one U.S. state and authorization to represent claimants before SSA.
• Four or more years of relevant legal experience preferred, with disability hearings/appeals track record.
• Strong knowledge of Social Security Disability law, SSA regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent hearing, legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Empathy, sound judgment, ethics, attention to detail, and client advocacy commitment.
• Clear written and verbal communication, organization and time management.
• Ability to work hybrid from Mindset's NYC office.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on SSI/SSDI eligibility, hearing strategy, and appeals process.
• Represent clients at disability hearings before administrative law judges.
• Review medical records and evidence to build strong cases.
• Draft briefs, motions, and other submissions for claims and appeals.
• Coordinate with clients, SSA, and agencies; maintain documentation.
• Mentor junior attorneys and staff; collaborate across teams.
• Leverage digital case management and AI tools to improve workflows.
