Job summary

MetLife’s Global Customer Service and Operations (GCSO) team seeks a disability claims professional to process STD/LTD claims with accuracy and care. You will assess information, determine liability, and communicate outcomes in a compliant, compassionate manner.

Based in a commutable area to multiple offices, the role requires in-office presence once a month and 2+ years of STD experience. A high school diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of short-term disability (STD) experience.
• Ability to use AI to improve speed, quality, and efficiency of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess and decide on STD, PML, and state disability claims.
• Gather medical and vocational information to determine liability.
• Adhere to federal and state laws to ensure timely decisions.
• Communicate decision rationales clearly to claimants and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, employers, and attorneys to obtain needed information.
• Document rationale and exercise autonomous judgment beyond CMG guidelines when warranted.
• Use tools to manage the claim block and determine when to involve specialists.
• Assess return-to-work potential and plan next steps.
• Perform other duties as required.
