Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Case Manager I, LTD to manage a caseload of long-term disability claims with analytical and communication skills.

The role blends in-office collaboration with virtual work, requiring presence at least 2 days per week to foster teamwork and service excellence. You will handle claim decisions, payments, and documentation while applying contractual provisions and medical records analysis.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customer service orientation.
• Must be able to work independently and a team environment.
• Ability to conduct detailed claimant interviews.
• Solid critical thinking skills and ability to negotiate with people.
• Demonstrated expert analytical skills with contract language interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and prioritize a group of claims on an ongoing basis with proper documentation.
• Obtain all pertinent information to evaluate claim credibility.
• Prepare written rationale based on contract provisions and medical/occupational records.
• Process claims for payment and ensure timely receipt of benefits.
• Assess vocational rehabilitation opportunities with vocational staff.
• May testify in court and provide depositions related to disputes.
