The Portland Vocational Rehabilitation office of the State of Maine seeks a Business Engagement Specialist to build strong employer partnerships in Cumberland and York counties, enabling career exploration and lasting employment for clients with disabilities. The role is based at the Portland CareerCenter and offers a hybrid schedule with travel as needed.

The ideal candidate excels in networking, collaboration, and documenting outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to vocational rehabilitation and 2 years’ experience assisting individuals with disabilities, employers and stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify labor market needs and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Contact business and industry groups, advocate for clients, and develop dual client partnerships.
• Build partnerships within the workforce development system.
• Assess client needs and support employment preparation activities toward employment.
• Maintain accurate documentation using the AWARE system.
