Job summary

The University of Rhode Island seeks a Coordinator, Disability, Access, and Inclusion (2 Positions) to collaboratively deliver accessibility services for students with disabilities at the Kingston campus in Rhode Island. You will assess requests, supervise student employees, and advise on disability-related options across departments, aiming to enhance inclusion and equity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling/social work, college student personnel, communicative disorders, adult education or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience working with students with disabilities.
• Minimum two years of administrative or instructional experience in higher education.
• Evidence of commitment to student success and self-advocacy.
• Knowledge of Federal Regulations 504, 508, ADA Amendments Act and reasonable accommodations.
• Knowledge of FERPA.
• Experience with adults facing mental health, social, and emotional needs.
• Ability to consult in learning accessibility options.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in written communication.
• Ability to contribute to team cohesiveness.
• Experience integrating inclusion, equity, and social justice in work.
• Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively coordinate and deliver university accessibility services and supports for students with disabilities.
• Assess, verify and facilitate student requests for services via remote and in-person meetings.
• Provide learning support services for students with various disabilities.
• Hire, train, and supervise student employees as needed.
• Advise students and groups on disability, diversity, civil rights, services, and self-advocacy.
• Assist and advise the Assistant Dean/Director on accessibility options in courses and services.
• Coordinate housing accessibility communications with Housing and Residential Life.
• Liaise with IT Teaching and Learning Services for online accessibility and training modules.
