Job summary

Stanford University is seeking a Disability Adviser in the Office of Accessible Education on a 13-month fixed-term basis. The hybrid role involves working with students to determine accommodations and guiding the interactive process across campus.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of ADA/Section 504 compliance. Evening/weekend availability and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Ability to ensure and apply compliance with federal disability law including the ADA and Section 504, as well as relevant university policies.
• Excellent organizational skills including effective time management, and flexibility to adapt to competing priorities.
• Advanced customer service skills, demonstrated in the ability to work with students, parents, faculty, and other campus stakeholders in high pressure and complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with students with disabilities to determine appropriate accommodations on a case-by-case basis.
• Collaborate with staff and faculty to guide the interactive process and implement accommodations.
• Understand, interpret, and apply University policies and procedures.
• Advise students on issues such as disclosure, disability management, rights and responsibilities.
• Collaborate with university partners and stakeholders within VPSA.
• Facilitate trainings, workshops, and represent the department at campus outreach events.
• Confer on complex cases with manager and colleagues.
• Direct students to grievances processes.
• Maintain records of activities with students, including communications and meeting notes.
• Implement policies to support accommodations in academic and housing settings.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
