Partnering with Operations, Technology, Engineering, and Supply Chain, the director will deliver scalable warehouse capabilities, support growth, and improve customer fulfillment.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline with 9+ years of experience, including supervisory roles.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
• Strong background in warehouse management systems and operations design.

Responsibilities

• Owns the enterprise Warehouse Management System (WMS) roadmap and prioritizes modernization for efficiency and accuracy.
• Designs future-state workflows across receiving, replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping to standardize processes.
• Leads cross-functional teams across Distribution Center leadership, Engineering, Technology, and Finance.
• Evaluates emerging warehouse automation, robotics, and software solutions for viability and ROI alignment.
• Coordinates vendor negotiations and price changes with major vendors.
• Builds business cases, ROI models, and capability frameworks to support investments.
• Establishes governance, testing, and change management for multi-site WMS upgrades.
• Monitors KPIs and delivers actionable insights with executive dashboards.

Job Summary

The Director of Warehouse Strategy drives the enterprise roadmap for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), warehouse profiling, slotting optimization, and execution capabilities across the distribution network. This role serves as the subject matter authority bridging technology, automation, data, and operational design to boost throughput, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency. Working in close partnership with Operations, Technology, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, the Director delivers scalable, high-performance warehouse capabilities that support business growth and improve customer fulfillment..

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Owns the enterprise Warehouse Management System (WMS) strategic roadmap, leading the prioritization, modernization, and configuration of system enhancements to ensure operational efficiency, scalability, and inventory accuracy .
• Designs future-state warehouse operational workflows—including receiving, replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping—to standardize processes across network facilities, new building startups, and expansions .
• Leads cross-functional project teams and strategic initiatives across Distribution Center leadership, Engineering, Technology, and Finance to influence enterprise-wide supply chain priorities..
• Evaluates emerging warehouse automation, robotics, and advanced software solutions to determine operational viability and align investments with overall WMS architecture.
• Coordinates vendor negotiations with vendors. Negotiates price changes with major vendors.
• Builds comprehensive business cases, ROI models, and capability frameworks that support capital investments in supply chain technologies and warehouse optimization .
• Establishes robust system governance, testing protocols, and change management standards for continuous WMS upgrades and seamless multi-site deployments .
• Monitors critical warehouse KPIs and operational data—such as labor utilization, inventory accuracy, pick efficiency, and throughput—delivering actionable insights and executive dashboards to senior leadership.

Nature and Scope

• Problems are typically defined by higher level leadership. Problems are difficult. Solutions require analysis and investigation.
• Decides how to achieve planned results within an organization's plans, policies, and guidelines. May set or change plans/goals within respective department or area.
• May manage department via multiple layers of managers OR directly supervise a staff of professional individual contributors at the senior or technical advisor level.

Work Environment

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
• Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.

Education and Experience

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 9+ years of experience in a related field, including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
