Job description

Allumia is a woman‑led business that provides platform solutions for funding energy and efficiency projects, managing utility programs and supporting decarbonization efforts. We strive to make energy and efficiency accessible, affordable and simple for everyone. Our core utility‑and implementation contractor‑facing offerings are:

  • Energy and Efficiency-as-a-Service funding platform and support to complement existing C&I DSM programs, where capital is a barrier to customer participation
  • Residential and C&I software platform tools for customer and contractor management as well as utility reporting requirements. Supported for Energy Efficiency, Electrification, EV and Load Flexibility programs
  • Supporting program administration and managed services to support deployment and utilization of our finance and platform offerings

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to spearhead our utility‑focused business development efforts and to report directly to the CEO. Our ideal candidate understands the generational challenge facing the US energy industry today, and is excited to help the industry meet that challenge with collaboration and creativity.

Successful candidates will have:
  • 10+ years of experience in the energy, utility, and utility program implementation industries.
  • Extensive experience with utility‑specific RFP and procurement processes, including the development, writing, and presentation of utility program RFPs.
  • 7+ years of experience in DSM program design and implementation.
  • Established network of utility contacts and relationships across key markets.
  • Familiarity with Energy-as-a-Service, performance‑based, and alternative financing models for energy and efficiency programs.
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory and policy landscape that shapes utility program design and procurement.
  • Ability to self‑start, problem‑solve, and take initiative in driving new business opportunities for the company.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully winning utility program bids and overseeing or participating in the roll out and launch of those programs.
  • Creative and out‑of‑the‑box approaches to program design and implementation, coupled with a clear understanding of how to structure new concepts in an approachable way for risk‑averse clients.
  • Capacity to thrive in a start‑up environment where team members often wear multiple hats.
  • Comfort with customer‑facing networking in conference environments and the requisite travel requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leading utility‑facing business development efforts, including networking and opportunity development.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging utility needs to inform company strategy and positioning.
  • Managing, writing, and pitching RFP, RFI and Pilot proposals.
  • Providing product and platform feedback to internal teams based on direct insights from utility buyers and prospects.
  • Growing Allumia’s utility business through partnerships with program implementation firms, utility service platforms, and direct utility relationships and contracts.
  • Developing target sales collateral and presentations that tailor Allumia’s value proposition for target audiences and use cases.
Compensation and Benefits

Allumia offers a competitive compensation package. Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Bonuses for closed/won utility bids.
  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision insurance. Premiums for employees are 100% covered by Allumia, while Allumia covers 60% of spouse and dependent premiums.
  • Employee Stock Options and matching‑based 401(k) plans.
  • Fully Remote work, with option to work in‑person at our Seattle office if located locally.
  • Generous holiday and PTO package.
  • Eight (8) weeks of fully paid Parental Leave, available to be used within 12 months of child’s birth or adoption.
