We are seeking a Director, Utility & IPP Origination to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role reports to Vice President, Global Power & Utilities and will be based in San Jose, CA or Remote.

The Director, Utility & IPP Origination will source, negotiate, and execute Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Capital Purchase (CapEx) Agreements with utilities and independent power producers (IPPs) in the US. This position involves initiating new sales efforts and closing transactions with utilities and IPPs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet revenue targets.

Role and Responsibilities:
  1. Lead PPAs and CapEx Origination efforts with utilities, IPPs, Co-Ops, and other potential utility-scale customers.
  2. Conduct preliminary evaluations of financial viability, policy and regulatory review, development, and market strategies.
  3. Identify, analyze, and execute on utility opportunities, including RFP/RFI bids, bilateral agreements, and proposal development.
  4. Manage cross-functional teams to execute product offerings and proposals.
  5. Build and maintain strategic relationships with consultants, partners, EPCs, ISOs, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
  6. Evaluate market conditions, revenue potential, customer feedback, and regulatory landscapes to adapt strategies.
  7. Present key deal points and recommendations to executive management.
  8. Travel for customer meetings and industry conferences.
  9. Contribute to business planning and origination strategy development.
  10. Collaborate with regulatory and policy experts to incorporate policy efforts.
  11. Achieve measurable results and revenue targets.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of utility and/or IPP power origination experience.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with market entry analysis and go-to-market strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manipulate and synthesize financial models.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work with ambiguity.
  • Drive for results with a long-term strategic vision.
  • Self-starter, team player, capable of working independently.
  • Ability to conduct external customer and partner meetings.
  • Desire to challenge and change the status quo.

Salary Range: $144,000 - $234,000 annually.
