We are seeking a Director, Utility & IPP Origination to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role reports to Vice President, Global Power & Utilities and will be based remotely in Texas.

The Director, Utility & IPP Origination will source, negotiate, and execute Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Capital Purchase (CapEx) Agreements with utilities and independent power producers in the US. This position involves initiating new sales efforts and closing transactions with utilities and IPPs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet revenue-driven deadlines.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead PPA and CapEx origination efforts with utilities, IPPs, Co-Ops, and other potential utility-scale customers.
  2. Evaluate financial viability, policy and regulatory considerations, development, and go-to-market strategies.
  3. Identify, analyze, and pursue utility opportunities for Bloom’s products, including RFP/RFI responses, bilateral agreements, proposals, and other commercial materials.
  4. Manage cross-functional teams to execute product offerings and proposals.
  5. Build and maintain strategic relationships with consultants, partners, EPCs, ISOs, government agencies, and other industry stakeholders.
  6. Assess market conditions, revenue potential, customer feedback, and regulatory landscapes to adapt strategies and capitalize on new opportunities.
  7. Present key deal points and strategic recommendations to executive management.
  8. Travel to customer meetings and industry conferences as needed.
  9. Contribute to business planning and origination strategy development.
  10. Collaborate with regulatory and policy experts to incorporate policy developments.
  11. Achieve measurable revenue and business development targets.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  2. 15+ years of relevant utility and/or IPP power origination experience.
  3. Strong analytical, financial, and presentation skills.
  4. Experience in market entry analysis and go-to-market strategy development.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in financial modeling and synthesis.
  7. Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to ambiguity.
  8. Results-driven with a strategic long-term vision.
  9. Independent self-starter and team player.
  10. Ability to conduct external customer and partner meetings.
  11. Passion for challenging the status quo and driving change.
  12. Proven success in negotiating complex power purchase agreements and commercial contracts.
  13. Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
  14. Willingness to travel as required.

Salary Range: $144,000 - $234,000
