Job summary

Invenergy, headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Director, Transmission Development to lead the execution of new transmission projects, coordinate engineering, grid planning, environmental review, and permitting, and drive cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal leader will guide direct reports and partners, manage risk, engage senior leadership, and advance the company’s growing portfolio toward successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Engineering, Finance, or other relevant field.
• 10 years of experience or more in transmission or energy project development, construction, or engineering.
• Experience managing large projects and/or teams.
• Experience with economic analysis of complex projects or businesses.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Lead the identification, evaluation, development, and advancement of new transmission opportunities across regions.
• Develop and execute project strategies from early identification through proposal development, stakeholder engagement, permitting, and execution.
• Lead and align internal and external teams across engineering, grid planning, financial analysis, environmental review, routing, permitting, public affairs, regulatory, legal, and commercial workstreams.
• Prepare complex transmission proposals, development plans, business cases, work scopes, contractor bids, and decision materials for senior leadership and external counterparties to support successful project outcomes.
• Mentor and develop a team of direct reports, provide coaching and growth opportunities while monitoring performance.
• Represent Invenergy Transmission with utilities, customers, landowners, community leaders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Identify, manage, and communicate key project risks including routing, permitting, stakeholder, interconnection, and financial risks.
• Synthesize technical, commercial, financial, legal, and market input into clear, actionable recommendations for investment decisions.
