The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, influence across levels, and eventual leadership of a small team as MOS matures. A strong cross-functional and analytical background is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in operations, transformation, or strategy within industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Track record of delivering cross-functional initiatives to completion and managing multiple stakeholders.
• Lean/continuous improvement experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with formal operating systems (e.g., Danaher Business System) is preferred.
• Experience leading integrations following an acquisition; strong financial and commercial acumen.

Director, Transformation Role Purpose

Drive the enterprise initiative portfolio to realization and implement the Mueller Operating System (MOS). Reporting to the VP, Corporate Development & Strategy, this leader is the hands-on execution engine behind Mueller's strategic priorities, converting strategy into disciplined, measurable progress across functions. This role provides the drive, cadence, change management, and relentless follow-through that turns plans into results.

Position Summary

This is a high visibility role, with regular exposure to the executive team and a birds eye view of the business. The right candidate is a tenacious, self-directed operator who thrives in ambiguity and finishes what they start. They will own the connective tissue across the enterprise: prioritization, execution cadence, transparency, value tracking, barrier removal, and the disciplined rollout of MOS. Business and functional leaders retain full accountability for the performance and results of each initiative. Success requires someone with the ability to influence from the executive suite through to the shop floor, earning credibility with operators and executives alike, and driving accountability without relying on hierarchy. The role begins as an individual contributor and is expected to grow a small, high-capable team as MOS matures.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the Mueller Operating System (MOS) across functions, creating and implementing the plan and process needed to sustainably embed it as business as usual.

Work hands-on with initiative teams to unblock issues, hold pace, and drive initiatives to realization.

Track and validate value delivery (e.g., revenue, margin, productivity, and working capital).

Surface cross-functional barriers early and drive rapid resolution.

Hold initiative owners to milestones, while owners retain full accountability for results.

Run the ongoing CEO/ELT strategy execution review as a decision forum.

Own the single enterprise scorecard, tracking value, milestones, and strategic progress across the initiative portfolio.

Work closely with the M&A function, leading acquisition integrations and initiative tracking.

Support development of enterprise strategy.

Complete ad-hoc strategic projects for the executive team.

Experience & Background

8-10+ years in operations, transformation, or strategy, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated track record of driving cross-functional initiatives to completion and managing stakeholders at multiple levels. Analytical horsepower: candidates may come from engineering, finance, consulting, or a strong operating background.

Some experience with or exposure to lean / continuous improvement is strongly preferred.

Experience implementing or operating within a formal business/operating system at another company is preferred (e.g., Danaher Business System).

Experience leading / working on integrations following an acquisition.

Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to work alongside finance on value validation.

Bachelor's degree required; engineering or technical background a plus.

First-year definition of success

Strategy has moved from a presentation to the way Mueller operates. Every major priority has an accountable owner, MOS has established a common execution cadence, value creation is quantifiable, problems surface early, and decisions happen faster.

Long-term definition of success

Over a two- to three-year horizon, MOS is embedded in the normal management system, ELT leaders operate naturally with the new disciplines, and the transformation capability remains lean — with this role growing into a broader mandate and a small, high-capable team.
