Job Summary:

Provide technical leadership and management direction for database administration teams in a matrix-managed environment. Lead advanced database design, analysis, administration and performance optimization to support complex processing needs and future business requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Provide technical leadership and management direction to database administration team members
• Manage resource allocations within a matrix-managed environment
• Lead, plan and oversee state-of-the‑art database designs to solve complex database processing problems
• Perform complex database analysis and database design tasks using advanced techniques on the forefront of technology
• Ensure databases meet required operational standards and performance levels, including reliability, response time and query execution time
• Prepare cost analyses and justification for difficult database systems
• Serve as a senior consultant to staff by providing strategic technical advice and consultation on database analysis and design reviews
• Participate in the administration, monitoring, tuning and support of databases in the production environment

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
• Twelve (12) years of information technology experience
• Eight (8) years experience in the database administration area
• Experience in clinical or regulated laboratory environments is helpful
• Experience applying database design approaches that consider existing and future needs, capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results
• Experience evaluating database implementation approaches, backup strategies and recovery strategies
• Knowledge of database administration activities including denormalization, data archival schemes, sizing, data definition language and database objects
• Knowledge of referential integrity, security enforcement and application optimization
• Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

• Ability to lead technical teams and provide management direction in a matrix-managed environment
• Strong strategic consultation skills with the ability to advise and guide staff on complex database analysis and design reviews
• Advanced problem-solving skills for complex database processing challenges
• Ability to evaluate technical options and recommend database design, implementation, backup and recovery strategies
• Strong focus on operational reliability, performance optimization and production support

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $107,800.00 - $300,100.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
