Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is seeking a Director of Strategy & Planning to lead our technology vendor strategy and governance from Boston. You will drive how we select, govern, measure, and evolve our external partners, aligning with business and technology objectives.

The role demands hands-on, data-driven thinking, strong communication, and the ability to work across Finance, Legal, Security, and HR to optimize vendor engagements and ensure measurable value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in technology vendor management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or related field.
• Strong understanding of technology services and commercial models.
• Experience leading vendor selection activities and negotiations.
• Strong financial and analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, and spend analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and evolve BHSI’s technology vendor strategy and governance.
• Develop vendor segmentation and consolidation opportunities.
• Establish vendor risk and resiliency practices including transition planning.
• Monitor vendor spending to ensure alignment with budgets and forecasts.
• Partner with Technology and Finance to develop annual vendor budgets and forecasts.
• Evaluate AI vendors and shape AI sourcing strategies.
• Coordinate with Legal, Security, HR on vendor engagement across lifecycle steps.
• Advise Technology leadership on sourcing strategies and internal capabilities.
• Support market assessments, RFI/RFP processes, and vendor evaluations.
• Maintain vendor relationships and scorecards for performance reviews.
• Drive vendor rationalization and cost optimization.
• Lead strategic initiatives in vendor management and operating models.
