Job summary

Virgin Galactic is seeking a Director, Strategy & Growth Programs to spearhead high-priority growth initiatives with strategic and analytical rigor. This executive will lead ideation, business cases, stakeholder alignment, and end-to-end program management, partnering with operating teams for long-term, scalable impact.

You will own corporate-level initiatives, deliver insights to the C-suite, mentor teams, and drive execution across the commercial organization.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years with a Master’s in strategic planning, program development, performance optimization or related fields.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving acumen, with high attention to detail and practiced ability to use insights to drive actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Track record to apply influence and drive results without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated excellence in leading teams to deliver results at the highest levels.
  • Highly sophisticated interpersonal skills with relational and emotional intelligence.

Job description

The Director, Strategy & Growth Programs will spearhead key strategic and growth-driving projects for Virgin Galactic, combining thought leadership with operating excellence, and driving cross-functional. This well-rounded leader will establish high-priority growth programs with a strategic and analytical lens, shepherd all aspects of the programs (ideation, business case, stakeholder alignment, project planning and management, etc.) through the development phase, and partner with operating teams for transition and long-term success. In addition, this experienced executive will hold accountability for key corporate-level strategic initiatives, applying analytical rigor and project management proficiency to drive both insights and progress. Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.

Responsibilities
  • Lead high-priority growth programs through development and early execution
    • Identify highest-impact programs to drive growth by establishing a strategic framework, assessing market trends and leading cross-functional ideation (e.g. evolution of pricing, referrals, corporate, etc.)
    • Lead the development of individual initiatives through refinement of program structure and establishment of detailed execution roadmap
    • Throughout the initial execution phase of each initiative, closely monitor performance and proactively adjust to optimize commercial outcomes
  • Own and drive forward key corporate-level strategic initiatives, including major expansion plans e.g. future spaceports
    • Provide thought leadership in designing the strategic framework
    • Own quantitative and qualitative analyses to drive insight
    • Establish process to ensure alignment across key functions for planning and execution
    • Deliver impactful communications and presentations at C-suite & Board levels
    • Lead cross-functional teams in an effective project management capacity
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders in both inclusive ideation and alignment of accountability, act as a linchpin to activate across stakeholder groups
  • Manage and mentor direct report(s)
  • Consistently demonstrate executive leadership across the commercial team
  • Coach, train, and transfer expertise to your team to drive projects to completion
Required Skills And Experience
  • 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree of leadership in strategic planning, program development, performance optimization or related fields

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $126,900.00–$203,075.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
