Job summary

The Milken Institute seeks a Director to support its Business and Program Development team, focusing on fundraising for Strategic Philanthropy. The role engages UHNW and foundation funders to expand philanthropic impact and build transformative partnerships.

Hybrid work from Washington, DC, with occasional travel; leadership of a small team; strong communication, relationship-building, and executive presence are essential to drive campaigns and strategic plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
10+ years of fundraising, business development, partnership building, or wealth management.
Experience with UHNW philanthropists and major gifts.
Executive presence and strong written/oral communication skills.
Ability to travel and work across time zones; proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce.

Responsibilities

Craft, implement, and evaluate a holistic business development strategy.
Engage funders to understand philanthropic goals and opportunities for impact.
Design partnerships and close major gifts for Strategic Philanthropy.
Manage relationships with funders and coordinate Milken Institute interactions.
Support financial planning, campaigns, and strategy evolution with leadership.
Lead a team of business development professionals in proposal development and events.
