Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking a Director of Planning & Design to lead the Planning & Design Services team within Facilities Management Services (FMS). This senior role shapes campus space planning and capital renovation programs, serving as the university's architectural lead on more than $20 million in annual projects.

The director partners with stakeholders to develop long-range facility plans aligned with RIT's strategic vision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
• NYS Architect License is required or equivalent.
• 15 years of relevant experience may be considered with education.

Responsibilities

• Manages planning and design activities including staff supervision and customer service.
• Collaborates with senior leadership to evaluate campus space needs and plan for new/renovated space.
• Oversees design and development of campus capital projects with budgets and schedules.
• Coordinates with Project Managers to ensure programmatic needs, design criteria, and budgets are met.
• Develops and revises processes to support collaboration and excellent customer service.
• Contributes to departmental strategic planning and continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.
